We celebrate Independence Day on 15th August every year. It is a epic day in the history of India. It is on this day in 1947 that India got independence from the foreign rule.
Independence Day is our national holiday. Shops, offices, colleges, schools and business establishments are closed on 15th August. National flag is hoisted everywhere. National song is sung. The Prime Minister of India unfurls the national flag from the ramparts of the Red Fort in Delhi and takes the salute of the armed forces. A salute of twenty one guns is fired. The Prime Minister delivers a message to the nation. Independence Day is celebrated all over the country.
People of all parts of the country gather at the Red Fort to watch the celebrations of this great event. The Prime Minister addresses the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort. In his speech, he highlights various achievements of the country in different fields. On this day, he vows on behalf of the countrymen to take the country to the path of more progress and development. He calls for the countrymen to have integrity, solidarity and unity.
Independence Day is celebrated with great zeal and fervour in all Indian states and union territories as well. In the states, the Chief Minister or the Governor hoists the national flag and takes the salute. This day is also celebrated in schools, colleges and other official buildings. In schools and colleges, the principals hoist the national flag and address the students to work hard for the progress and development of the country. In their speech they remind the students of the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and call them to be responsible citizens of the country. In other official buildings generally the head of the institution unfurls the national flag. At night all the official buildings are illuminated with lights. People especially children are very enthusiastic on this day.
Independence Day reminds us of the sacrifices made by great leaders of our country. It instills in us a spirit of inspiration and patriotism. It also reminds us of the patriots and martyrs who laid down their lives for the country. All Indians—living either in India or abroad—celebrate Independence Day with great zeal.
Meanwhile, We must continue to follow the things around us. We have our day. Before this, we do our duty to prepare ourselves for tomorrow’s educated citizens.
Let’s do our duty honestly and work hard to achieve the goal. Today we ask a lot of knowledge and energy from young people. The first enemy of a democratic nation is normal. Let’s get rid of illiteracy and take India in a bright future.
